To protect yourself against potential loss and damage to your goods in route to Israel, it is highly recommended you be covered by some form of insurance. Sonigo International can provide you with marine insurance through our marine insurance agent who we have years of experience working with for all kinds of shipments from personal and household goods to fine art..
Around pick up, you will be responsible for filling out an insurance form which will be provided by Sonigo. There are two options for how to insure your shipment: 1) lump sum or 2) Valued Inventory.
Note: It is important you insure your ENTIRE shipment and declared (insured) values account for REPLACEMENT values in Israel. Undervaluing your shipment will lead to problems with reimbursements in claims situations.
Once you have calculated your shipment’s total value, multiply this amount by the insurance rate you received from Sonigo to get the final insurance premium to be paid. When the form is complete, you will send it to Sonigo by fax or e-mail, so your insurance policy can be processed. Once issued, the policy will be e-mailed to you along with all relevant terms and claims information.
All policies offered by Sonigo will cover your shipment for loss and damage incurred from the time we take possession of your goods until delivery to your home in Israel. Insurance coverage for those shippers receiving port-only service terminates when goods are picked up from our port facility in Israel. In this instance, all damage and loss must be recorded prior to taking the shipment from our port facility.
