The general rule is ship things that you will enjoy long term in Israel. Times have changed and many more things are available in Israel but still there are items that are worth bringing in a shipment. It will require you to do some comparison shopping and to assess what you already own to decide what is worth shipping. Here are a few rules:
- Don’t bring junk (especially junky furniture). Furniture is large and shipping goes by size (volume)
- Don’t ship Ikea type furniture unless it is new in the box
- Make sure the furniture you are considering bringing will fit into your apartment in Israel.
IMPORTANT TIP: If you are not sure what to bring in a shipment, you can still have a survey/volume estimate performed by Sonigo. The way to solve this issue, is to tell the person doing that survey, that some items are definitely going and some items are “MAYBE” items. Then you will ask Sonigo to give you two quotes, and in that way you will see the range of your options and then you can decide which option makes the most sense to you.
